Since 2008, our family has lived next to a pick your own farm on Bluff Road. During this time, we enjoyed picking blueberries each summer. Its former owner and his dad planted the berry bushes and farmed the land for close to 30 years together. Prior to that, the land had been used as a dairy farm. When the former owner’s dad passed away in 2012, his son farmed it alone in the years thereafter. The 2021, 2022, and 2023 seasons were heavily damaged by late frosts, so the farm did not open. Many of the berry plants became overrun with weeds, the irrigation system needed repair, and the plants needed pruning and fertilizer. Much of the 10 acres of blueberry bushes in the back field hadn't been tended to in over 10 years. Thus began our vision when we purchased the farm in January of 2024: We wanted to restore the farm to its old glory and give back to our community what was almost lost. By preserving Lower Richland community’s farming heritage, we would also teach our children the value of hard work and how to grow their own food. Our family partners with a drug rehabilitation ministry called Teen Challenge to help young men recover from addictions of all sorts. Our prayer is that this blueberry farm will be a place of hope that will help bring restoration to the young men, and the young men will help bring restoration to the farm. Our theme Bible verse for the farm is Hosea 10:12. It is a blessing to all that if you seek the Lord, he will draw near to you. May you and your family be blessed when you come to visit!
At AA Farms LLC, we grow the freshest blueberries, muscadine grapes, and raise bees to produce farm fresh honey. Our produce is hand-picked by our customers, going from our farm directly to your table! We will be opening November 30 for the Christmas season and will be selling Christmas trees and pecans.
